A Birmingham, Alabama-based construction technology company, Command Alkon is at the forefront of providing a groundbreaking supply chain management platform specifically for construction's heavy work to eliminate the friction from inter-company processes and deliver enhanced productivity to its clients. Furthermore, to unify the tasks of the numerous parties involved in the heavy building material value chain, the company leverages GPS and Telematics (logistics and traceability), IIoT (at the plant, trucks, and worksites), data analytics, and its next-gen AWS-powered digital collaboration platform, CONNEX.
Discussing the core competencies of the company’s solutions, Ed Rusch, VP of Marketing at Command Alkon, elaborates, “Our solutions are used to ensure operational excellence, automation, productivity, quality, and end-to-end visibility across the bulk material supply chain.” With its solutions, Command Alkon facilitates the efficient orchestration and completion of various workflows at a job site and eliminates friction in inter-enterprise commerce. In addition, the company’s CONNEX Platform unifies physical supply chains with digital capabilities in order to enable customers to connect disparate systems, automate the supply chain, and gain insights through analytics.
According to Rusch, the bulk material supply chain can be categorized into two sides—the collection of suppliers and the builders. For suppliers, the ability to operate efficiently, maximize the utilization of assets, ensure employee safety, fulfill orders from different customers, and deliver high-quality materials on-time is critical.
Founded in 1976, Command Alkon has already brought together a widespread community of bulk suppliers over its 43-year journey. And with its unparalleled drive to digitize the supply chain, the company has very quickly digitized over 17 million bulk material ticket processes for heavy-civil infrastructure projects, helping clients save an average of $3+ million per project.
Command Alkon is all set to unlock unprecedented productivity, shared prosperity, and help build smarter communities for the future
In one instance, the company equipped Fort Worth-based Kiewit Texas Construction with automated direct material management, tracking and payment processes for their Dallas-Fort Worth Connector project. To achieve this, Command Alkon digitalized traditionally paper-intensive ticketing processes, enabled real-time tracking of trucking operations via GPS-enabled mobile devices, and developed a faster and more efficient invoice reconciliation process. After the collaboration, Kiewit Texas was able to successfully deliver over 300,000 tons of concrete and track 15,000 trucks without using a single paper-based operation.
Looking ahead, Command Alkon aims to spearhead the charge towards even greater digital collaboration adoption in construction. To conclude, Rusch believes that with its mantra ‘Together We Build Amazing,’ Command Alkon is all set to unlock unprecedented productivity, shared prosperity, and help build smarter communities for the future.
